In order to understand what the client has mind when requesting a style or updo, always consult with the client first.
You may find it helpful to have magazines available that show different updo options, such as bridal magazines or keep a folder of pictures clipped out from magazines or web at your station that show current styles. Having a personal portfolio of previous styles you have done to show your work is also a perfect tool to have at hand.
Once you have mastered the basic styles presented in the chapter and the foundational techniques these styles require, you will have the technical abilities to experiment and create your own unique and attractive looks. The hairstyling options will be endless!
|1) Take a horizontal section in the nape area divide into small strands approx. ½”. Curl using CHI Digital Curling Iron 1” in horizontal position and spray each section with CHI Infra Texture hair spray.|

|3) Continue curling the sides. Make sure the ends are properly curled and work in the same manner.|
|4) Make a side part at the front and work in the same manner.|
|5) Repeat on the opposite side. Keep the same direction and tool position as well as the amount of hair in the strand. Use CHI Infra Texture hair spray.|
|6) Finish the look with BioSilk Finishing Spray Natural Hold and BioSilk Shine on to add radiant shine.|

|3) Next, place a cushion filler between the two sections, then secure with pins.|
|4) Lightly backcomb the hair.|
|5) Distribute hair from the front section towards the back to cover cushion.|
|6) Divide back ponytail into two sections and then braid each section.|
|7) Crisscross the two braids forward over the bun and secure underneath to accent the bun.|

|7) Using bobby pins secure the hair in the center using interlinked technic bobby pins. Use CHI Royal Treatment Ultimate Control hair spray for control and polish||8) Secure the bobby pins placing the last one backwards working like a lock.||9) Release the rectangle section from the top and brush backwards with our CHI Ionic Backcomb Brush.|
|10) Join the section in the crown area with bobby pins.||11) Brush and polish all the remaining hair.||12) Roll the hair over the bobby pins to create a big twist and hide the ends inside the twist.|
|13) Using hair pins, secure the twist from bottom to the crown, following a C movement like the arrow shows.||14) Continue securing the twist with hair pins.||15) French twist is completed. Finish the style with CHI Royal Treatment Ultimate Control hair spray and CHI Ionic Brush to polish the style.|
To create additional wave, use a tread and place it over the crown and with softly press down taking the ends downwards toward the nape. Apply heat with a blow dryer and add hair spray.
