CHI Wave Philosophy

CHI Waves offer a contemporary take on traditional wave styling. They feature new technology that allow stylists to produce playful swirls and waves, as well as to provide volume and body for fine hair.

With new winding techniques with CHI rods, stylists can enhance the hair by controlling the direction and the amount of wave added to the hair giving modern, long-lasting and hassle-free looks.

Silk

Silk protein is one of the key ingredients found in each waving system. -It contains 17 of the 19 amino acids found in human hair -reconstructs and repairs from the inside out -protects and maintains the hairs strengths – creates impeccable shine, while taming frizz.

• Each CHI Waves contains two different sizes of silk molecules
• Smaller silk molecules penetrate to the cortex, in proximity to the sulfur bonds to protect hair’s elasticity
• Larger silk molecules protect the cuticle layer

CHI Waves
Read the instructions and cautions carefully before doing a CHI Wave and always perform a strand test prior to CHI Waves service. Do not use CHI Wave if the scalp is irritated, abraded or injured in any way or if the hair shows any sign of breakage or damage. Use your professional judgment.

Directions:

Analysis

• Always analyze the hair, to evaluate chemical services, porosity, condition, texture, density and length.
• Consult with your client to determine her expectations to their desired results.
• Always perform a strand test to determine the elasticity of the hair to decide if the hair is able to receive the service.

Preparation:

• Gently cleanse the hair with CHI Infra Shampoo. Do not rub the scalp. Rinse thoroughly towel dry.
• Select your rod size and wrapping technique according to desired result and influencing factors of the hair.
• On areas that are extremely porous, spray a light amount of CHI Keratin mist.

Wrapping and Application

• Wrap damp hair (not wet) smoothly, using your selected wrapping method, without unnecessary tension.
• Place cotton around hairline and towel at nape.
• Mix entire contents of Activator (part 1) into Waving Lotion bottle (part 2) and shake gently.
• Carefully apply the solution to the top and underside of the rod, starting at the nap and work upwards to the hairline.
• Do not apply the lotion on scalp.
• Carefully resaturate each rod.

Important

To protect the skin, remove cotton around the hair line and replace it with fresh cotton.

Processing

• Processing time is always approximate, depending on the type of hair.
• Check hair every 3-5 minutes hair’s elasticity.
• Low heat can be used with Selection 2 & 3.
• Do not use heat with Selection 1
• Do not exceed 25 minute processing time

To test curl formation

Release one rod and unwind 1 or 2 turns allowing hair to relax. If the hair forms an “S” pattern and hair is separating into a ribbon shape, processing is complete. If not, rewind the test curl and re-check the air every 3-5 minutes.

Neutralizing (5 + 5 min)

• Rinse hair at least 10 minutes with warm water.
• Longer hair will require additional rinsing time.
• When rinsing is complete, towel blot thoroughly.
• Place fresh cotton around the hairline.
• Gently shake Neutralizer (part 3) and apply 2/3 of the Neutralizer to the top then underside of the rods. Start at the nape and work upwards to the hairline. Process for 5 minutes.
• Do not apply the lotion on scalp.
• Remove rods gently and work remaining 1/3 Neutralizer through the hair for 5 minutes.

Rinsing and Sealing

• Rinse hair thoroughly with luke warm water for 5 minutes.
• Towel dry the hair.
• Apply CHI Infra Treatment for 5 minutes and rinse.
• Apply a few drops of CHI Silk Infusion and do not remove.
• Results are guaranteed only if you use recommended CHI products.
• Style as desired.

Read instructions carefully before performing a CHI Wave.

• Prior to CHI Wave a preliminary test curl and strand test is required.
• Do not use if scalp is irritated, abraded or injured in any way or if the hair shows any sign of breakage or damage. Use your professional judgment
• A 48 hour allergy patch test must be performed prior to each and every service.
• Always analyze the hair, assessing chemical services, porosity, condition, texture, density and length.
• If the hair is colored with coating colors, metallic dyes and/or henna, do not use the product.
• Always follow the instructions.
• Do not exceed recommended processing times. Check the results every 3-5 minutes.
• Use only low heat with CHI Selection 2 & 3. Do not use heat with CHI Neutra Wave. (solution 1)
• Always mix a fresh CHI Wave Lotion for each client.
• If CHI Wave product or mixture accidentally gets into eyes, rinse promptly and repeatedly with cool water and seek medical attention. If client wears contact lenses, they should remove before rinsing with water. Do not apply to children. Keep all CHI Wave products out of reach of children.
• Protective gloves must be worn all the time when opening, mixing, closing or handling CHI Waves in anyway.

Strand Test
Always perform a strand test prior to any CHI Wave service.

• Take a few strands of hair cut a small strand of hair from the weakest, most porous ppart of the hair (usually the ends) and secure it at the roots with tape.
• Wrap the hair around desired rod.
• Mix entire contents of CHI Wave Activating Lotion bottle (part 1) into Waving Lotion bottle (part 2) and shake gently.
• Saturate the strand with the Lotion.
• Process accordingly and complete the CHI Wave Service.

If the test shows breakage or any other signs of damage, do not use the product.
