We are surrounded by invisible particles known as ions. (Ions exist in two forms: positive and negative) Ions are atoms that have gained or lost an electron and carry a charge of energy. The Secrets of Silk with Cationic Hydration Interlink

Cationic Hydration Interlink is a positively charged molecule that provides moisture and links into the hair fiber.

Silk and protein bonds are cationic (positively charged) to penetrate into the negative areas within the hair to build strength and resilience.

The CHI Transformation System contains several sizes of silk molecules.

Smaller molecules (120 microns) penetrate the cortex to bond and strengthen the hair from the inside out.

Larger molecules (750 - 10,000 microns) fill voids in the hair and crosslink into the cortex and on the cuticle layer to repair split ends.

Silk proteins contain 17 of the 19 amino acids found in hair. Silk can hold up to 3 times its own weight in moisture. This results in improved elasticity and prolonged results from styling, smoothing, perming and color services.

Due to its triangular molecular structure, silk provides dimensional shine. It also protects hair from heat, cold, humidity and free radicals.

How to do a strand test for CHI Transformation System

NOTE: Do not proceed with CHI Transformation service at this point (3 b)

How to check results:

Check the elasticity of the hair (every 5 minutes) between your fingers.

What to look for:

DO NOT proceed with the CHI Transformation Service if:

• the hair stretches excessively or breaks
• the hair feels swollen and/or slimy
• the hair produces heat
• the condition of the hair is visibly affected
• any combination of the above

Processing Multi-Porous Hair

When working with two different formulas:

a) You may apply two different formulas at the same time.

Always check the results every three minutes.

b) Or you can apply to the roots first and then the ends afterwards with a different formula. Apply the second formula to the mid-shaft and ends when the root area starts to soften.

Use your professional judgment.

Check the hair every three minutes.

Note:

* In cases where some areas of the hair are processed before others, rinse immediately and gently. You can always reapply a weaker formula to under processed areas if the hair is in good condition.

CHI Transformation System Permanently Transform Hair

Step 1 – Analysis

• Determine correct solution

Step 2 – Shampoo
 

• Shampoo with CHI Infra Shampoo
• Rinse & towel dry the hair

Step 3a – Preparations

• Apply CHI Infra Treatment for 5 minutes
• Rinse & towel dry the hair
• Mist hair with Keratin Mist
• Apply Silk Infusion
• Dry hair according to manufacturer’s directions

Step 3b – Sectioning

• Section the head into 4 quadrants
• Isolate ½ to 1 inch subsection around hairline depending on hair density

Step 4 – Application

The solution against the natural growth pattern

• Keep the solution 1/8-inch away from the scalp

Step 5 - Processing and Testing

Always test in 3 different places (back, sides and front)
Check the elasticity of the hair

• Take a small strand of hair between your fingers
• Gently pull in outward direction
• You should feel the hair return to shape like an elastic band

Check formation

• Remove the product from the strand with a water spray bottle and check the formation in the palm of your hand.
• Important! You are not looking for perfectly straight hair at this point.
• When desired transformation has been achieved hair is ready for intermediate rinsing
• Do not comb the hair!

Step 6 – Intermediate Rinsing

  

• Rinse with lukewarm water minimum of 5 minutes
• Towel blot
• Apply CHI Infra Treatment from roots to ends for 5 min. Rinse and towel dry
• Do not comb the hair

Step 7 - Processing and Testing

Apply Silk Infusion

Formula A
Virgin/Resistant

• Use your fingers and CHI Blow Dryer to remove 70% of the moisture.
• Finish drying the remaining 30% with CHI Round/Paddle Brush.

Formula B
Color/Chemically Treated

• Use your fingers and CHI Blow Dryer to remove 90% of the moisture.
• Finish drying the remaining 10% with CHI Round/Paddle Brush.

Formula C
Highlighted, Porous/Fine hair

• Use your fingers and CHI Blow Dryer to completely dry the hair
• Do not pull or brush the hair.

  

Apply CHI Silk Infusion

Pressing roots and mid-shafts:

• Start at nape taking 1/8 inch horizontal sections
• Press and slide the CHI Iron from roots to midlengths, 2-3 times. Do not press the ends.

Pressing the ends:

• Wait until you have pressed 2 to 3 subsections
• Combine these sections together, and continue to press the ends in exactly same manner

Pressing top sections:

• When pressing top sections of the head lift sections straight up from the base. This will enable you to get as close as possible to the root area, and eliminate bends or creases.

  

• Pour desired amount of Phase #2 transformation Bonder into plastic bowl
• Start at the nape area, taking 1/8’ subsections
• Wearing gloves, apply Phase #2 bonder from roots to ends
• You may comb in a downward motion with a wide tooth comb once, to ensure the hair stays smooth and straight
• Do not press the hair flat to the head
• Process 5 minutes at room temperature

 

• Final rinse for a minimum of 5 minutes
• Towel dry the hair
• Apply generous amount of CHI Infra Treatment & process 5 minutes
• Rinse & towel dry

  

• Apply generous amount of CHI Silk Infusion
• Begin drying with a CHI blow dryer
• Use CHI brushes or fingers, which ever you prefer
• Perform an optional final seal with a CHI Iron and CHI Silk Infusion

Q: Am I required to attend a course prior to working with the CHI Transformation System?
A: We highly recommend taking a hands-on course with a certified CHI Transformation Educator. This will provide you with a strong foundation when performing the service.

Q: How long do the results last?
A: The CHI Transformation results are permanent.

Q: Can I use CHI Transformation System on hair that has been previously relaxed with sodium/calcium hydroxyl?
A: No. Both of these systems have a thio base and are not suitable for hair that has been previously relaxed with sodium/ calcium hydroxyl.

Q: How long do I need to wait before coloring the hair performing a CHI Transformation System?
A: Always perform a strand test prior. Hair can be colored/highlighted immediately after CHI Transformation System service only with Farouk Systems Ammonia-Free Colors and Lighteners using 5 and 10 volume developers. In some cases, 20 volume can be used after a successful strand test.

Q: How long should I wait before retouching the CHI Transformation on a client?
A: You should wait between two to six months depending on rate of natural growth. A minimum of two inches re- growth is necessary to perform re-touches.

Q: How soon can I shampoo the hair?
A: The hair can be shampooed immediately with CHI home care products.

Q: Can I use a blow dryer and round brush or curling iron to style the hair after the CHI Transformation System Service?
A: Yes. Hair can be styled immediately as desired with Farouk Systems ceramic tools and accessories.

Q: How important are home care products after CHI Transformation System?
